It doesn't get any clearer than this :)

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Romans 6:23a "...The wages of sin is death..."

Romans 6:23b "...But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Romans 5:8, "God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!"

Romans 10:13 "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!"

Romans 10:9,10 "...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

Revelation 3:20a "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him..."

John 1:12 "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name!"

Believe you have sinned, accept that your sin has separated you from God and made you unclean. Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sin.

Geography Review App

I was searching for an app to review coin values for my daughter, Hannah and stumbled upon a really fun Geography app.  It's called Stack the States.  We had a hard time getting back to our school work because it was so interesting.  It teaches the kids fun facts about the States, their shapes and location.  I highly recommend it for a fun way to review for CC.

Why I am voting for Ron Paul

I know, I know, you aren't supposed to talk about politics or religion but I am not one to conform.

I like Ron Paul, I like that he was an obstetrician for 30 years before getting into politics.  I like that he has been married to the same woman for 54 years.

I like that he wants to put abortion rights in the hands of states rather than the federal government.  I like that he said all other violent crimes are dealt with at the state level, why should abortion be excluded.

I like that he has consistently said the same thing and doesn't change his stance based on his ratings or popularity.

I like that Democrats will vote for him because he wants to bring our troops home.  I agree with Ron Paul that we no longer need to have troops in countries like Germany and South Korea.

I agree with Ron Paul that government has no place in healthcare, especially after working in Home Health Care as a nurse.

I agree with Ron Paul that parents should have the right to spend their money on the school or method of schooling they deem appropriate for their children.  If the system isn't working how about we try something different.

Ron Paul is against wasting money.  He no longer want to pour our tax money into other countries, which isn't really helping the people that we intend to get the money.  How about give us back our tax money so we can put it into the organizations that will really help people suffering in other countries.

Fun Stuff

After a failed attempt to spend the day at the beach, because of a nasty jellyfish.  We came home a worked on some art.  Ethan was inspired by the artist who came to our CC to explain Georgia O'Keeffe style while Hannah's painting resembled Grandma Moses inspiration.

My friend gave us this marble thing....because she didn't want to put it together.  Ethan spent about 6 hours with this concoction while it looks impressive it doesn't really work :(  but I am amazed and proud of my son's determination.

How to get your kids reading.....and loving it!

I learned a trick from the guest blogger on the pioneer woman's website.  I require my kids to be in their rooms at a certain time but they are allowed to stay up later as long as they are reading books.  Children never want to go to bed so they stay up reading...it works wonders :)

Start the book by reading it together or listening to the audio.  Catch your child's attention and interest by introducing the story to them but let them finish it independently.

Have a time where you all read to yourselves.  Give everyone a book and enjoy.

Have a stack of books in your house for yourself.  If you don't have any books in your house to read...guess what you won't be reading anything.  (I read that on MoneySavingMom.com)

This is my first year with a book list. I went to my favorite blogs and picked books they enjoyed and asked my friends.  I have a stack of books that I am really interested in and I have been reading much more.  I think having my kids see me enjoying books will influence my children's attitude towards reading.

Temper, Temper. Temper

I struggle with raising my voice too often...also know as yelling at my children.  I have prayed for years for God to help me with it, and I have only showed slight improvement.  I would like to blame my parents who taught me this but in 2 years I'll be 40 years, I have spent almost as much time away from my parents than with them so it's time to own up and take full responsibility.

I have a couple of friends who are so inspirational in this area.  One of my friends never raises her voice....she is calm as a cucumber and her kids are the most obedient kids I know.  My other friend, rarely raises her voice and her kids are also extremely well behaved.  My conclusion is raising my voice is really an ineffective way to get my kids to listen to me.  I feel terrible guilt after I yell.  It is really is a loosing situation.

I have found that I usually erupt, when I am overwhelmed with a messy house or feel like I am things are out of control and chaotic.  I've also noticed if I have a schedule and something interferes with the way I imagine things are going to be that I really start to unravel.... Soooooo I'm trying to come up with practical steps to help me before I get to Mt. St. Helen status.....
1.  Start everyday praying with my kids, ask for patients for myself and obedient hearts for my kids!
2.  Set a time 2 times a day and have my kids pick up their toys, before lunch and before bed.
3.  Make my kids obey the first time I ask them to do something and do not ignore disobedience
                  A.  Ethan looses wii time and tv time
                  B.  Hannah is sent to her room for 5 minutes
                  C.  Noah put him in his crib for 2 minutes
4.  Encourage my children to confront me when they see I'm starting to loose it.   Ethan has really been a huge encouragement to me by congratulating me when I keep it together in stressful situations.  Which gives me hope that I can change....
5.  When things aren't going the way I want them, to lay down my desires and accept God's will with a cheerful heart.  Things don't have to be my way...I can be flexible....

I think this list will probably grow as I try to figure out what situation are triggering my weakness.

Saving Money!

Hi Folks!

I save $195 yesterday and Lindy encouraged me to write a post about it.

I had to pick up a new medicine for my son.  A thought kept popping into my head that I should go to a different pharmacy, but I went to the one where I always go (they even know my name).  When they told me it would be $200 for a 3 week supply, I decided to go try another pharmacy.

The second pharmacy said it was $5 for a 3 weeks supply!

Now I just have to decide what to do with the $195 I saved (just kidding).

Money Saving Mom Free Ebook

One of my favorite websites is Moneysavingmom.com by Crystal Paine
She has so many great printables to help busy mom's organize their cleaning, meal planning and freezer cooking meals.
She is really well read and I actually feel like she is one of my friends because I read her blog so often.  She also has wonderful booklist of children's books too!  She homeschool's her 3 children and is a really down to earth woman.
She just came out with a book and I am so excited to get a copy.  I will be adding it to my 2012 booklist.  I am hoping that I can reap some of the benefits of all of her diligent research in being a mom!
